Babachir-Lawal

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has resigned from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a letter dated 29th June, 2025 and addressed to the APC Chairman, Bangshika Ward, Hong Local Government Area, Adamawa State, Lawal said he’s resigning to join those he called compatriots to work for a better Nigeria.

The letter reads, “I write to formally notify you of my resignation from the All Progressive Congress.

“In due course, I will make public my current political affiliations where I plan to join other compatriots to work towards making Nigeria a better living place for all its citizens.

“This resignation takes immediate effect.

“Please, remain blessed and extend my warm regards to other members of your party,” Lawal said in his letter.

The former SGF was a campaigner for former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, in the 2023 presidential election.

He’s been a leading member of the coalition, which has adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
