Ex-Lagos Governor, Ambode pays tribute to Buhari
Former Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, has urged Nigerians to remain steadfast in promoting unity, equity, and visionary governance as the nation mourns the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a heartfelt tribute, Ambode reflected on the late president’s leadership, describing his legacy as one that embodies discipline, fairness, and a deep commitment to Nigeria’s collective progress.
He particularly acknowledged Buhari’s support for Lagos during his presidency, noting that his actions went beyond rhetoric and translated into impactful decisions that benefited millions of residents.
“President Buhari demonstrated a clear understanding of Nigeria’s diversity through inclusive governance,” Ambode stated.
“His administration approved critical infrastructure projects like the reconstruction of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Road and transferred federal assets such as the Presidential Lodge in Marina to the Lagos State Government. These actions exemplified national leadership rooted in equity and foresight.”
Ambode emphasized the enduring value of institutional memory and continuity in governance, urging current and future leaders to draw inspiration from Buhari’s sense of duty and calm resolve.
“His disciplined approach to leadership and unwavering belief in Nigeria’s future remain instructive. These are qualities our nation must continue to uphold,” he said.
The former governor extended his condolences to President Buhari’s family, the Federal Government, and the Nigerian people, praying for eternal peace for the departed statesman.
“May Almighty Allah accept his good deeds and grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus,” he said.
