Ex-Jigawa NUJ Council Chairman, Fahad dies at 55

Former Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Jigawa State Council, Comrade Fahad Muhammad Malam Madori is dead.

Madori died at the age of 55.

The Chairman of the Council, Comrade Samaila Ibrahim Dutse, who announced the death, said Comrade Malam Madori’s sudden death occurred in the late hours of Sunday midnight, 6th June 2025, at his residence in Malam Madori town.

A veteran journalist until his death, Fahad Muhammad was a staff member of the Jigawa State Ministry of Information, Youth, Sport, and Culture, an Information Officer in charge of Birniwa and Kirikasamma Local Government, and also a member of the Advisory Committee of the NUJ Jigawa Council.

He is survived by one wife and four children. He has since been buried in his hometown, Malam Madori, according to Islamic rites.

In early condolences, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Zone A, extended its heartfelt condolences to the National President of the NUJ, Alhassan Usman, the National Secretariat, the Jigawa State Government, his family, and the entire journalism community in Nigeria over this great loss.

The condolence message, signed by Abdulrazak Bello Kaura, Secretary, NUJ Zone A, described the death of Comrade Fahad as a monumental loss to the NUJ family, and prayed Almighty Allah to grant his soul eternal rest in Jannatul Firdausi.

Similarly, the Jigawa State NUJ Council also described late Comrade Fahad as not just a journalist but a passionate unionist who stood for the values of truth, professionalism, and unity among media practitioners.

The statement, signed by the Secretary of the Council, Comrade Aisha Ahmed, noted that the late Fahad’s tenure as Chairman of the NUJ Jigawa State Council was marked by integrity, selflessness, and dedication to the welfare of journalists, noting that his sterling performance will remain indelible in the annals of history.
