Newcastle United coach, Eddie Howe has explained why Manchester City failed to beat his team on Saturday.

Howe watched as Newcastle United played a 1-1 draw with Man City in the Premier League.

Joško Gvardiol put Pep Guardiola’s side in ahead before Anthony Gordon equalized for the hosts at St. James’ Park.

Speaking after the game, Howe said his team defended really well in the last 20 minutes of the encounter.

“We are happy, especially after last week. That was a good display, that was us playing our way, brave,” Howe told BBC Match of the Day.

“It was two teams going right at each other for probably 70 minutes. Last 20 minutes they were stronger than us and we had to defend really well to maintain the point.”
