EPL: Why Chelsea will never win title – Carragher
Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher has insisted that Chelsea can never win the Premier League title because they don’t have the right goalkeeper to do so.
According to the Englishman, the Blues need to replace their goalkeeper Robert Sanchez with a new one this summer transfer window if they want to win the English top-flight league.
Chelsea finished in fourth position last term and also secured a spot in the Champions League on the final day of the season.
The Premier west London club also won both the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup.
They have already signed the likes of , Jamie Gittens, Jorrel Hato, Estêvão Willian, Joao Pedro and Liam Delap but Carragher feels the Blues still need a new shot-stopper.
He spoke recently on The Overlap, Carragher said: “Man United started winning league titles after they signed Peter Schmeichel.
“Man City changed their keeper and started winning the league. We [Liverpool ] brought in Alisson and started winning the league. Chelsea started winning the league when they signed Petr Cech.
“That is why Chelsea can’t win the league. No matter what Chelsea do or how much they spend, they can’t win the league because they’ve not got a goalkeeper to win the league.”
