EPL: He’ll score goals – Ten Hag hails Man United star despite missing open net

Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has refused to apportion blames to Marcus Rashford following the Red Devils’ defeat to Manchester City in the Community Shield on Saturday.

However, the Dutchman hailed the England forward for even finding himself in positions to hit target.

Manchester United lost 7-6 on penalties at Wembley on Saturday.

Rashford missed two glorious chances to put the Red Devils ahead one in each half.

Alejandro Garnacho came on from the bench to make it 1-0 for United in the 82nd minute before Bernardo Silva restored parity seven minutes later.

The game went into penalties, where Jonny Evans missed the decisive penalty as Pep Guardiola’s side will begin the season with the Shield in their cabinet.

Ten Hag addressed the press after the game, saying, “I think he was several times in very good positions. I’m very pleased he is getting in those positions.

“Keep going, keep making those movements and the team will make those movements, he will score goals.

“He’s experienced enough to deal with this and once he scores one, then the goals will come.”
