EPL: Gary Lineker gives condition for Arsenal to win title

Former England striker, Gary Lineker, has said Arsenal only stand a chance of winning the Premier League title this season if Viktor Gyokeres hits the ground running.

The Gunners signed Gyokeres from Sporting CP this summer for a fee that could reach £63million.

The 27-year-old scored 54 goals in 52 games across all competitions last season.

Lineker, speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, claimed he has to produce similar numbers for Arsenal this campaign.

He said: “A lot too will depend on how Gyökeres does. I mean he scored a terrific goal in pre-season but we all know pre-season is not that important.

“Although, it is for a striker in terms of that feeling of hitting the back of the net.

“So I think a lot will depend on him but we know he’ll get good service. I think they could go close again.”
