The women of Eha-Amufu in the Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State have cried out over the alleged gruesome killing of their men and rape of women by herdsmen.

The community alleged that every part of Eha Amufu with a boundary with Benue State is now a death trap.

The women protested on Tuesday, March 4, calling on the Enugu State government to rescue them.

A trending video on Facebook showed both aged and young mothers sitting on the ground, some standing, as they explained all that had been happening to them.

A woman in the video explained that she and her husband were kidnapped by the herdsmen and were forced to walk a long distance for three days.

She claimed that during the days they were in captivity, they were fed with cow urine.

They were later released after the payment of the N2m ransom.

Another voice in the video said, “We don’t harvest our crop again after farming because of Fulani herdsmen. Our women are constantly raped by the herdsmen; after raping them, they will put sticks in their private parts. Some of the women lying there were raped, and their private parts ruptured with sticks.”

In another clip with different voices of women crying, a voice was heard saying, “See our mothers crying; our crops on the farm were destroyed; we are dying of hunger; the government of Enugu State hears our voices.”

“Some of us that built houses on the farm, the herdsmen have taken over the houses; we don’t go to our farm again. They rape our women every day and use cutlasses to cut them on their private parts. Government of Enugu State, please hear our voices and come to our aid.”
