Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has announced plans to support entrepreneurs with a grant of N310m as part of a deliberate effort to boost economic activities.

In all, 62 entrepreneurs will be supported , two from each of the 31 local government councils of the state with each entrepreneur receiving N5m each, according to the governor.

Speaking at a special Thanksgiving service in Uyo on Thursday, Eno directed interested entrepreneurs to apply for the grant online.

“Interested entrepreneurs are to apply online, where they will be required to upload a two-minute video showcasing their business ideas.

” This initiative is expected to stimulate economic activity and create job opportunities within the state, ” the governor stated.

Acknowledging the ongoing challenges in the power, the Governor also indicated interest to organize a “Power Summit aimed at developing a comprehensive strategy for achieving uninterrupted power supply in Akwa Ibom.”

“This summit will gather experts and stakeholders to discuss actionable steps to tackle power challenges, ensuring that residents and businesses have reliable access to electricity, ” Eno stated.

The state government is also set to seek collaboration with corporate organizations where indigenes of the state are occupying top positions in a bid to attract investment opportunities, according to the governor .

He called on all citizens to continue supporting the government in its efforts to actualize its agenda, a framework designed to promote sustainable development and progress in Akwa Ibom State and urged “everyone to work together in building a brighter future for the state,” emphasizing that collective effort is key to achieving the desired results.

The Thanksgiving service is a yearly event to usher in the new year and express gratitude for the achievements made and projects implemented and to seek guidance in the new year.

The service took place at the purpose-built international Christian worship centre in Uyo, the state capital and attended by people from all walks of life including the clearly from various denominations.
