Emulate Jesus By Obeying Commandments, Wike Tells Christians

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike, has called on Christians in the nation’s capital to renew their commitment to God’s service and embrace His commandments.
In a message released on Tuesday through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the minister called for love, compassion, and obedience to God’s laws, and drew inspiration from the life of Jesus Christ.
“Since Jesus Christ, whose birth is the reason for the celebration of Christmas, obeyed the commandments of God, Christians, too, must keep the commandments, especially by showing love to people around us and teaching others to do the same,” the Minister said.
Wike expressed gratitude for the opportunity to celebrate another Christmas, and extended wishes to FCT residents.
“I congratulate all residents of the Federal Capital Territory for the grace of celebrating another Christmas. It is my prayer that the good Lord who made this possible will ensure that we all celebrate many more Christmas in good health,” he said.
He further acknowledged the recent tragedies in Abuja, and sympathised with the families affected by stampedes. “Once again, I also sympathize with families of victims of the recent stampedes in Abuja. I pray that God in His infinite mercies will grant them fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” he said.
Wike reiterated his confidence in the progress of the nation under the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressing optimism that “things will keep getting better.”
He reiterated that Christians must follow the example of Jesus Christ by remaining obedient to God’s laws and committing to the service of humanity.
“The occasion of the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ should be used to rededicate ourselves to the continuous service of God and humanity as well as total obedience to the commandments of God Almighty,” he said.
