An aesthetician, Godwin Ezer, and a receptionist, Kelechi Adibe, were on Thursday arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing medical and surgical tools valued at N18m from their employer.

The defendants, Ezer, 27, who resides at Greenville Estate, Bodore, and Adibe, 29, a resident of Lekki Phase 1, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

According to the prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, the alleged offences were committed on February 2 at Bluorchild Aesthetic Company, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State.

Ademigbuji informed the court that an audit conducted at the company revealed that several medical and surgical tools, along with some drugs, were missing.

He said the total value of the missing items was estimated at N18m.

“The defendants could not provide any reasonable explanation for the missing items during the investigation,” Ademigbuji said.

The prosecutor stated that the offences contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

In her ruling, Chief Magistrate Mrs O.O. Kushanu granted each defendant bail in the sum of N3 million with two sureties in like sum.

The case was adjourned until March 27 for mention.
