Emetu Urges Abia Youth To Beware Of Manipulative Politicians

The Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu has advised the youth to be wary of manipulative politicians who do not have their best interests or the state’s welfare in mind.
Emetu, who gave the advice when the Umunneochi Youth Congress (UYC) visited him at the Government House, Umuahia, cautioned that with the 2027 election approaching, deceptive politicians will emerge, using flattering words to mislead them.
He urged them not to be swayed by the current global economic challenges and to avoid falling into their trap
He noted that youths make up 65 per cent of Nigeria’s population but criticised their tendency to support politicians lacking leadership abilities due to personal connections.
Engr. Emetu stressed that the Abia Industrial Innovative Park (AIIP), once completed, is intended to provide meaningful engagement and employment for the youth.
He urged patience with Governor Otti’s administration, assuring that progress will be made.
Speaking earlier, Engr. Uzoigwe Simon, President of the Umunneochi Youth Congress (UYC), while appreciating Deputy Governor Emetu for serving as a role model for young Nigerians interested in politics, suggested collaborations focused on empowering youth through education, including scholarships and mentorship, as well as promoting youth involvement in governance.
He stated that the youths are worried about unemployment and economic empowerment, access to quality education and skill acquisition, and healthcare and wellness, as well as civic engagement and participation in governance.
Engr. Uzoigwe commended Gov. Alex Chioma Otti for prioritising the protection of lives and property in governance.
He reflected on the severe impact of insecurity in Abia, particularly in Umunneochi, where it caused significant loss of life and affected businesses until it was nipped in the bud by the current administration.
The visit featured the presentation of awards of recognition to both the Governor, Dr Alex Chioma Otti, and his Deputy, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, in recognition of their positive contributions to the state.
