Embiid, George Ruled Out Of Philadelphia Opener Against Milwaukee Bucks
Joel Embiid and Paul George have been ruled out of the Philadelphia 76ers NBA opener against Milwaukee Bucks.
He will miss not just Wednesday’s game but also Friday’s game in Toronto, and Sunday’s game in Indiana due to injury.
George was scheduled to make his Sixers debut after he signed a four-year, $212m contract as a free agent this summer.
According to reports, George will be reevaluated later this week after he suffered a hyperextended left knee that left him with a bone bruise against the Atlanta Hawks.
Another 76ers star, Jared McCain will go through a last-minute check after he suffered a pulmonary contusion in a rough fall last week against the Brooklyn Nets.
Embiid played in only 39 games last season due to knee injuries.
He returned in time to play against the New York Knicks in the playoffs.
He went on to play for Team USA this summer, helping the team win a fifth straight gold medal at the Paris Olympics.
George signed a four-year, $212 million max contract with the 76ers this summer after spending the past five years with the LA Clippers playing alongside Kawhi Leonard.
Embiid has spent all 10 years of his NBA career with the Sixers, who selected him with the third overall pick at the 2014 draft.
He has gone on to average 27.9 points per game in his career; the fourth-highest of all time behind Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain and Luka Doncic.
