Elon Musk Launches Beta Version of X TV App Dedicated to Watching Videos

X has now formally released the beta version of X TV, which it described as “a massive leap forward in transforming X into a video-first platform,” following months of releasing teases of the new TV app.

Elon Musk allegedly hopes that X will rival YouTube.

Musk personally intervened to persuade the most popular YouTuber, MrBeast, to begin sharing full videos on the website that was once known as Twitter. X CEO Linda Yaccarino asserted earlier this year that X was evolving into a “video first” platform.

The CEO of SpaceX and Tesla announced in a post on X that the app is now available in beta for Android TVs, as well as LG, Amazon Fire TV and Google TV.

He also stated that the company intends to expand the app to more devices in the future.

The Play Store listing offers it as a new way to enjoy the world of X, but one has to ask if anyone likes to use social media on a huge screen controlled by a remote.

At the very least, X provides video material, so the transition to TVs makes sense in this aspect, which means you can watch the next Space X launch from the comfort of your living room, directly on X television.

“Beta version of X TV is out,” Musk posted on X.

X has also stated that it will soon introduce new ad settings for the TV app, albeit they are not yet available.

Overall, it is apparent that Elon will continue to develop X (Twitter) into the all-in-one everything app, with the addition of X TV making video content more visible in the living room.

While this is not the first time Twitter has attempted to enter our homes via our televisions, it seems probable that this attempt will succeed.

We earlier reported that Amazon is introducing a new AI-powered search function for Fire TV called Alexa.

This feature will allow Alexa to respond to general inquiries about movies and TV series and provide more specialised recommendations based on the preference of the user.
