Beatrice Ekweremadu, Wife of Former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu

Beatrice Ekweremadu, wife of former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, has returned to Nigeria after being released from a UK prison.

Beatrice reportedly returned to Nigeria on Tuesday.

On March 23, 2023, Ekweremadu, his wife and their doctor, Obinna Obeta, were convicted of conspiring to exploit a young boy for his kidney.

The boy, who had been hawking in Lagos, was allegedly lured to the UK under false pretence to donate an organ for the couple’s ailing daughter, Sophia Ekweremadu.

Following the trial, Ike Ekweremadu was sentenced to 10 years in prison, while Beatrice received a six-year sentence despite citing health concerns during proceedings.
