Oyo State Fire Service has confirmed the fire incident that occurred along the Ibadan-Ife Expressway on Saturday.

DAILY POST gathered that a petroleum laden tanker caught fire on Saturday at Iyana Ajia in Egbeda local government area of Ibadan.

The incident occurred Saturday afternoon.

General Manager of the State Fire Service, Yemi Akinyinka, while confirming the incident, said that some people sustained minor injuries.

Akinyinka in the short statement made available to DAILY POST Saturday evening said, “On September 7, 2024, at approximately 5:45pm a devastating fire broke out inside a petroleum truck.

“The fire ravaged the pump of the truck, displacing several families and causing significant damage to the property.

“Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire was caused by some residents trying to use the leakage opportunities for their use.

“Damage and Losses: 4 trucks completely destroyed, 1 petroleum truck, 1 18-passenger-bus, 1 small truck, 1 micra.”
