The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, Thursday, ordered massive and strategic deployment of the command’s intelligence and operational resources for optimal policing as Muslim Ummah in Enugu State and beyond to celebrate the 2025 Eid-ul-Adha.

CP Giwa urged Muslim faithful “to celebrate responsibly and uphold the values of obedience, sacrifice, and peaceful coexistence that the season represents”.

He disclosed this in a release issued by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe. CP Giwa, in the release, announced the deployment of operatives at prayer grounds, major roads and streets, recreational centres, markets, and other public spaces across the state.

He directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, the Heads of the State Intelligence Department (SID), the Distress Response Squad (DRS), and other Operational/Tactical Units of the Command to ensure strict enforcement of the deployment order.

Quoting the statement, “CP Giwa also charged supervisory officers to ensure that operatives under their supervision conduct themselves professionally during and beyond the festive period.”

While wishing all Muslim faithful a safe celebration, the commissioner reaffirmed the command’s firm resolve to protect lives and property in Enugu State.

He encouraged the residents to remain law-abiding and vigilant, and to promptly report suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest police station.

Recall that the federal government had declared Friday and next Monday public holiday to mark the celebration.
