EFCC Apprehends 43 Suspected Internet Fraudsters In Rivers

Personnel of the Port Harcourt Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested and detained 43 suspected internet fraudsters in a sting operation.
In a statement signed and released on Thursday by the commission’s Head, Media & Publicity, Dele Oyewale, the arrest took place at Rumuekeni and Iwofe axes of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
According to the report, the offenders were arrested for allegedly being involved in fraudulent Internet activities.
Dele in his statement disclosed that the arrest uncovered different phones, laptops, a POS machine, ATM cards, five vehicles, international passports , two motorcycles which are currently on confiscation by the commission.
He also included that the defaulters will be arraigned in the court immediately investigations are completed.
“Operatives of the Port Harcourt Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested 43(Forty three) suspected internet fraudsters in a sting operation.
“They were arrested on Wednesday October 2,2024 at Rumuekeni and Iwofe axes of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
“They were arrested for alleged internet fraud following actionable intelligence surveillance on their suspected involvement in computer-related offences.
“Items recovered from them include different brands of mobile phones, laptops, international passports and Automated Teller Machine, ATM cards of different banks, five vehicles, two motorcycles and a Point of Sale, POS, machine.
“The suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation,” the statement read.
