Edo Govt Cancels Environmental Sanitation Exercise Over Polio Campaign

The Edo State Government has announced the cancellation of the monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise scheduled for Saturday, June 28, 2025.
The decision comes as a result of the Nationwide Polio Immunisation Campaign exercise, which is set to take place on the same day.
In a statement signed by Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa on Monday, the government explained that the cancellation is necessary to ensure the unrestricted movement of Health Officers and other personnel involved in the immunization exercise.
Despite the cancellation, the state government urged residents to still maintain cleanliness in their immediate environments.
The government also urged citizens to take personal responsibility for keeping their surroundings clean and hygienic.
Recall that the state government in April, reintroduced the monthly environmental sanitation exercise to maintain a cleaner and healthier environment for its residents.
The exercise, the state said, will involve restrictions on human and vehicular movements during the specified hours, except for officers on essential duties.
