Economic Activities Strengthen In June As Agric Sector Leads

Nigeria’s manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) showed that the country’s economic activities expanded in June, marking six consecutive growth.

The PMI, which is an economic indicator that measures the overall health of the manufacturing sector reached 52.3 points.

This was revealed in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) PM for June 2025.

According to the centra bank, 25 of the 36 subsectors surveyed expanded with the agricultural sector, witnessing the highest growth.

“At 55.2 index points, the agriculture sector recorded expansion for the eleventh consecutive month in June 2025. All the five subsectors recorded growth in agricultural activities,” the June PMI said.

According to the report, the agriculture sector recorded the highest input and output prices gap in the month of June 2025 at 9.8 points, while services recorded the lowest gap at 4.4 points.

The report disclosed that at 51.4 index points, the industry sector recorded expansion for the sixth consecutive month in June 2025.

Also, nine subsectors under the industry sector recorded growth in activities out of the 17 subsectors reviewed.

The PMI further revealed that the Services Sector index stood at 51.3 points.

It said the 51.3 points “Indicated expansion in the review month with 11 subsectors recording growth in activities in June 2025, out of the 14 subsectors covered.”
