DSS officers allegedly assault Anambra Commissioner [VIDEO]
A video showing operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, allegedly rough-handling the Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development, Patrick Aghamba, has surfaced online.
The footage, shared on Sunday by Uche Nworah, Special Adviser on General Duties to the Director-General of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, shows several security officers rough-handling the commissioner, with one visibly punching him in the head.
According to Nworah, Aghamba had allegedly blocked the entrance to the Onitsha General Hospital, preventing DSS personnel and others from accessing the facility.
He noted that while the reasons for the commissioner’s actions were unclear, the use of force by the DSS officers was condemnable.
“It is reported that the commissioner blocked the entrance to Onitsha General Hospital, preventing DSS officers and others from accessing the facility. The reasons for his actions are not immediately clear and are regrettable. However, the conduct of the DSS officers is also condemnable. It raises concerns about what could have happened if they had injured Hon. Aghamba,” Nworah stated.
The video, which has gone viral, has sparked strong reactions on social media, with many Nigerians questioning the handling of the incident by the security operatives.
The DSS has yet to comment on the matter.
