Driver Arraigned For Allegedly Stealing Employer’s N1.6 Million
A factory driver identified as Yusuf Otulana, appeared before the Ogudu Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, for stealing N1.6m from his employer, Ken Success Water Factory.
Otulana, who lives on Odunsi Street, Bariga, Lagos, is charged with breach of public peace and stealing.
According to the prosecutor, Inspector Donjour Perezi, the alleged crime took place on June 1 at No. 7, City of Power Street, Shomolu, Lagos.
Perezi stated that Otulana, as a driver and distributor for the factory, diverted the sum of N1.6 million from water sales for his personal use.
The charges brought against him violate Sections 168 and 287 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015, with Section 287 prescribing up to three years imprisonment for stealing.
Presiding Magistrate M.O. Tanimola granted the defendant bail in the sum of N150,000 with two sureties of the same amount.
The case was further adjourned to October 16 for mention.
