Don’t Use My Name To Solicit Funds, Akwa Ibom Governor Warns
The Akwa Ibom State Government has strongly warned against the use of the name of the Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, to solicit funds from members of the public for events, as well as the unauthorized use of state insignias by individuals, groups, and organizations to promote private activities.
The government in a statement signed by the state Commissioner for information Hon Aniekan Umanah on Tuesday cautioned that the name and office of the Governor must not be used to solicit funds for any purpose whatsoever.
He explained that such actions are inappropriate, misleading, and capable of creating false impressions.
“We also wish to state clearly that the Governor of Akwa Ibom State will NOT serve as Chairman or Chief Launcher at any event. Consequently, the name of the Governor must not be used for such purposes under any guise.
“All individuals, groups, and organizations seeking the Governor’s endorsement, presence, or involvement in any event must obtain prior approval from the relevant authorities. Any action to the contrary is strongly discouraged and will be treated with the seriousness it deserves.
“While the Government remains open to genuine engagements, due process and official protocols must be strictly followed to safeguard the integrity of the Office of the Governor and the Government of Akwa Ibom State”, the statement concluded.
