Don’t Expose Your Skin To Unregulated Products, Experts Warn Nigerians

Skincare experts have called on Nigerians to be ingredient-conscious and vigilant about product authenticity.

They spoke in Abuja on Saturday during the launch of a new skincare product, Berceker.

The Chief Executive Officer of Tulip Bodycare, Dr. Obianuju Ugwuoke, while speaking at the event, stressed the importance of transparency in product formulation and vendor selection.

“We are here for the launch of Berceker, the latest skincare brand in town. What is unique about it is that the ingredients are very well displayed. You know exactly what you are putting on your skin.

“We sourced most of the ingredients from Korea, which is widely recognised for their advanced skincare research—and had the product manufactured in Turkey”, she said.

Ugwuoke warned that Nigerian consumers are often exposed to poorly regulated or fake products, sometimes with dangerous or undisclosed ingredients.

She said the new product would respond to the risk by using only accredited vendors and listing them on its official website, adding that customers should only buy from the verified sources.

Also, speaking at the event,
a certified aesthetician, Alero Omole, offered practical advice on choosing safe and effective skincare.

She urged Nigerians to opt for products containing Alpha Arbutin, Vitamin C, and Ceramides, citing their clinically proven benefits for skin repair and resilience.

“Alpha Arbutin helps reduce hyperpigmentation by blocking melanin production. Vitamin C keeps your skin fresh and even-toned. Ceramides strengthen the skin barrier and prevent dryness and irritation,” she explained.

She continued: “What makes Berceker impressive is that it combines all three in its formulations.”

On her part, the Chief Executive Officer of Hareem Istanbul, the company behind Berceker, Rabia Usoro, disclosed that the product has been in development for over three years.

She said it was built on a foundation of high standards and personal integrity.
