Done Deal: Super Falcons Star Rinsola Babajide Joins Italian Giants AS Roma
Rinsola Babajide, a striker for the Super Falcons of Nigeria, has formally signed a two-year contract with Italian Serie A Femminile powerhouse AS Roma.
The 27-year-old winger has committed to the team until June 30, 2027. Her contract with UD Tenerife in the Spanish Liga F ended in May, after which she became a free agent and joined AS Roma.
Currently playing for the Super Falcons in Morocco at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), Babajide will reunite with her new teammates following the competition. By scoring in her first game against Tunisia, she has already made an impression at WAFCON.
She will reconnect with fellow Super Falcons teammate Shukurat Oladipo, who also plays for AS Roma. This move represents a major turning point in her career.
Babajide, a former England youth player who now represents Nigeria, said she is thrilled to be joining a Champions League squad and is looking forward to winning trophies with them.
“It’s an honour to join a team like this, to be honest. It’s a Champions League club, and a prestigious one at that, so I’m very happy to be here,” Babajide told the club’s official website.
“The Italian league is similar to the Spanish league. It’s very competitive, and everyone is technical, so I can’t wait to get started.
“Just being in Rome is precious, it’s an amazing experience, but even with the team, just bonding with the girls, securing Champions League Football, trying to win as much silverware in the league and for cup games.”
