Dead Baby Found Inside IDP Camp Pit Toilet

The Borno State Police Command on Friday confirmed the discovery of a dead baby in a pit toilet within the Charamari Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in Monguno Local Government Area.
The incident occurred at about 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2024.
The suspect, Yafalmata Mustapha, aged 15, was arrested in connection to the discovery and is currently in police custody for investigation.
Reports indicated that the infant’s body was evacuated to the General Hospital in Monguno, where a medical doctor confirmed the infant dead on arrival. The corpse was deposited at the hospital for autopsy.
THE WHISTLER further gathered that another resident of the camp was also apprehended.
Speaking to THE WHISTLER, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Daso Nahum, said “We only have the body of an infant that was found at 6:00 a.m. in a pit toilet within the Charamari Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in Monguno.
“One Yafalmata Mustapha, 15 years old, had abandoned the baby in a pit. The suspect is already in custody.”
