Dangote Refinery Partners with Vinmar Group for Global Polypropylene Distribution
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals has announced its intention to collaborate with Vinmar Group, a leading international petrochemicals distribution firm, to facilitate the export of polypropylene produced at its facility to global markets.
Production of 25-kilogram bagged polypropylene began at the facility in March, initially aimed at meeting domestic demand. Currently, the West African nation relies on imports for approximately 90% of its polypropylene requirements, amounting to an annual volume of 250,000 metric tonnes.
“We’re pleased to partner with Vinmar to introduce Dangote Polypropylene to global markets,” said Fatima Aliko Dangote, Executive Director at Dangote Group, during the facility’s launch ceremony on Wednesday.
The manufacturing complex is designed to meet local demand while positioning itself as a net exporter within the regional market.
Once operating at full capacity, the facility is expected to become the largest polypropylene manufacturing hub on the continent. It will house two distinct polypropylene production units, with annual capacities of 500,000 metric tonnes and 330,000 metric tonnes, respectively.
