Dangote Cement Leads 39 Losers as NGX Ends in Red

Trading activities on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) closed negatively on Tuesday as Dangote Cement, alongside 38 other stocks, recorded losses.
The All-Share Index (ASI) dropped by 1.46%, settling at 142,613.47 points compared to the previous 144,722.47 points.
Similarly, market capitalisation fell by 1.46%, closing at N90.227 trillion from N91.561 trillion, translating to a loss of about N296 billion.
A total of 1 billion units of shares worth N17.7 billion were exchanged in 34,352 deals.
The market breadth ended bearish, with 26 gainers against 39 decliners.
ENAMELWA topped the gainers’ chart with a 9.95% increase, closing at N35.90 from N32.65. DAARCOMMUNICATION, DEAPCAP, and Academy Press followed with gains of 9.82%, 9.80%, and 8.43% respectively.
On the flip side, Royal Exchange led the losers with a 10% drop to close at N2.52 from N2.80. Dangote Cement and RTBRISCOE also shed 9.88% and 9.87% respectively.
In terms of volume, Universal Insurance led the activity chart with 130 million units traded in 602 deals worth N173.6 million. AIICO Insurance exchanged 100 million shares valued at N435 million in 1,705 deals, while Mutual Benefits traded 69 million units valued at N311 million across 854 deals.
