The Housing Development Advocacy Network (HDAN), organisers of the Africa International Housing Show (AIHS), has lauded the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Architect Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, as he clocks two years in office.

The group described his tenure as a season of bold reforms and collaborative progress in Nigeria’s housing sector.

In a statement signed by its Executive Director, Festus Adebayo, HDAN commended Dangiwa for his “giant strides” in tackling systemic challenges, deepening stakeholder engagement, and forging strong partnerships at home and abroad.

“Architect Dangiwa has demonstrated uncommon leadership in the past two years. He has not only reset the housing sector with bold reforms but has also built excellent relationships with professionals, developers, regulatory bodies, and international partners.

“At HDAN, we salute his achievements and assure him of our continued support in the drive to transform housing delivery in Nigeria,” the group stated.

HDAN highlighted several landmark initiatives under Dangiwa’s watch, including the Renewed Hope Housing Programme (RHHP), which has commenced over 10,000 housing units across 14 states and the FCT—an unprecedented pace compared to previous administrations.

“Notable projects include the 3,112-unit Renewed Hope City in Karsana, Abuja; 2,000 units in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos; and estates in Kano, Osun, Delta, Katsina, and Nasarawa,” the group stated.

The group also pointed to the National Urban Renewal and Slum Upgrade Programme (NURSUP), already transforming more than 150 communities with new roads, drainage systems, solar power, water projects, and schools.

On affordability, HDAN praised Dangiwa’s unveiling of the Renewed Hope Social Housing Programme, which targets 77,400 affordable homes across Nigeria’s 774 local governments and is expected to create over two million jobs.

According to the group, other reforms include strengthening the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) and the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) to expand single-digit mortgages, rent-to-own schemes, and affordable housing finance.

“He has also initiated talks with cement manufacturers on reducing costs and advanced plans to establish building materials hubs across the six geopolitical zones.

“To unlock capital, Dangiwa has deepened collaboration with the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI) through its Real Estate Investment Fund, Family Homes Funds Limited, and state governments, unlocking new streams of sustainable financing.

“In addition, his Nigeria Land Titling, Registration and Documentation Programme (Land4Growth) is projected to unlock over $300bn in dormant assets,” the group stated further.

According to HDAN, the efforts reflect the bold reform spirit of the Renewed Hope Agenda and mark Dangiwa’s tenure as a turning point in Nigeria’s housing and urban development story.
