The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Architect Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, has expressed his support for the Chartered Institute of Directors (CIoD) in its efforts to enhance corporate governance and excellence.

The endorsement came during a courtesy visit by members of the Abuja zone of the CIoD, led by Chairperson, Mrs. Nwando Chukwura, to the Minister’s office in Abuja.

In a statement released by the Director of Information and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Salisu Badamasi Haiba, Dangiwa expressed his commitment to ongoing collaboration with the CIoD.

He emphasized that this partnership aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that while the private sector prioritizes customer-centricity, the ministry will work with the CIoD to enhance this focus and boost professionalism and leadership within the ministry.

Dangiwa highlighted the importance of adopting a performance-driven culture within the housing ministry to effectively fulfil its mandate of providing affordable and decent housing for Nigerians.

The Minister, who is a member of the CIoD, also pledged to encourage his ministry’s management to join the institute. and praised the CIoD for its alignment with key leadership qualities such as integrity, accountability, professionalism, and teamwork.

Earlier, Mrs. Nwando Chukwura had emphasized the CIoD’s commitment to advancing good corporate governance and sound business practices.

She outlined the institute’s role in providing professional education, enhancing directors’ skills, and promoting global best practices through capacity development programs both locally and internationally.
