Portugal captain, Cristiano Ronaldo, has paid tribute to former FC Porto captain Jorge Costa, who died at the age of 53.

DAILY POST reports that Costa died after suffering a cardiac arrest at the club’s training centre on Tuesday.

In a post on his Instagram story, Ronaldo shared a message to pay his last respects to Costa.

Alongside a picture of the former Portugal defender, Ronaldo posted a dove emoji with the caption: “Ate sempre Jorge Costa”.

That translates into English as ‘Until Forever’ or ‘Always love’.

Costa captained Porto to Champions League glory under manager Jose Mourinho in 2004.

He also won 50 caps for the Portugal national team during his playing career.
