Court Remands 37-Year-Old For Impersonating Revenue Collector In Imo
A fake revenue collector by name Otu Moses who hails from Ebonyi state has been charged and remanded in the Owerri Correctional Centre.
The 37-year-old was recently apprehended by the Imo State Government’s Compliance and Monitoring Team for impersonating state agencies and extorting citizens.
He was brought before Magistrate Court 12 in Owerri, facing three charges related to conspiracy, forgery, and impersonation.
According to the court records, Mr. Moses allegedly collaborated with accomplices who are currently at large to fabricate official revenue receipts from agencies including ENTRACO, the Ministry of Transport, and OCDA, which he utilized to illegally collect fees from unsuspecting members of the public.
The charges are based on Sections 516A, 467(1)(a), and 484 of the Criminal Code Cap 30, Vol II Laws of Eastern Nigeria 1963, which are legal in Imo State.
The magistrate presiding over the case ordered that the accused be held at the Owerri Correctional Centre until the next hearing.
