An Oyo State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Iwo Road area of Ibadan has granted N100,000 bail to a 37-year-old man, Suleiman Lateef, for alleged assault, malicious damage, and conspiracy.

The defendant was arraigned on a three-count charge of conspiracy, assault, and malicious damage.

Magistrate Kemi Raji granted bail to the defendant on Monday after the charges levelled against the defendant were read to him, and he pleaded not guilty.

Raji said that the defendant must provide two reliable sureties in like sum, one of whom must be his blood relation, while the other must reside within the jurisdiction of the court.

She further said that one of the sureties must provide three years’ tax clearance, and the addresses of the sureties must be duly verified by the court registrar.

The magistrate then adjourned the case until October 16 for a hearing.

Earlier, the prosecuting counsel, Wuraola Ajibike, had informed the court that the defendant conspired with others at large to assault and damage a cell phone belonging to one Salawudeen Abas.

She said that the defendant, who had been a habitual disturber of residents of Ashi area of Ibadan, committed the offences on June 27, at about 2:00p.m.

In her remarks, the defendant’s counsel, U.I. Festus, prayed the court to admit her client to bail in the most liberal terms.
