Corporate Bitcoin Holdings Hit New Heights with MicroStrategy’s Fresh $18M Purchase

MicroStrategy makes major Bitcoin bet with $1B purchase

MicroStrategy has once again strengthened its position as the world’s largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, adding 155 BTC—valued at roughly $18 million—to its reserves. CEO Michael Saylor confirmed the acquisition on X, noting that the company’s Bitcoin investment has delivered a 25% return so far in 2025.

The new purchase, made at an average price of $116,401 per coin, pushes MicroStrategy’s total holdings to 628,946 BTC as of August 10. Collectively, these coins were acquired for about $46.09 billion at an average price of $73,288 each. This methodical buying pattern has been a central pillar of the firm’s long-term treasury strategy, bolstering investor confidence and cementing its reputation as a Bitcoin heavyweight.

This acquisition follows a rapid series of buys in recent weeks. On July 29, the company acquired 821 BTC at $117,256 each, netting unrealised gains of about $64.9 million. Earlier that month, it purchased 862 BTC for $118,940 per coin, which has since added $7.3 million in paper profits. On July 14, another 844 BTC was bought at $111,827 per coin—now up by an estimated $35 million in value.

The market quickly responded to the latest move. MicroStrategy’s shares jumped 9%, closing at $404.90, while Bitcoin itself edged 0.95% higher in the past 24 hours to $119,665, with daily trading volume surpassing $87.8 billion.

MicroStrategy’s aggressive accumulation strategy has not only set a benchmark but has also encouraged other publicly traded companies to integrate Bitcoin into their balance sheets. Collectively, these firms now hold 964,314 BTC, with many following MicroStrategy’s playbook of raising capital to fund purchases.

Elsewhere in the crypto space, other major players are making headlines. The Trump family’s crypto project, World Liberty Financial, has teamed up with ALT5 Sigma Corp. to raise $1.5 billion for its WLFI token. As part of the plan, ALT5 Sigma will issue 200 million new and existing shares to finance the initiative.
