CHAN 2024: Ideye blasts Home Eagles after shocking defeat to Sudan
Former Super Eagles forward Brown Ideye has reacted to team’s shocking ouster from the 2024 African Nations Championship, DAILY POST reports.
Nigeria crashed out of the competition on Tuesday following an embarrassing 4-0 loss to the Falcons of Sudan.
DAILY POST recalls the Eagles lost their first game 1-0 to defending champions Senegal.
Head coach Eric Chelle has come under intense criticism following the defeat.
Ideye has however backed the Malian, stating that the country does not have what it takes to compete on the bigger stage.
“Let’s keep lying to ourselves and keep blaming someone else every time we fail. We’re not good enough that’s the bitter truth. It’s what you have the coach will work with period. And we don’t have what it takes to compete on the bigger stage,” Ideye wrote on X.
The Eagles will take on Congo in their last group game next week Tuesday.
