CHAN 2024: Chelle Demands Sharpness From Super Eagles B Ahead Of Congo Showdown
As Nigeria plays its final group match at the current African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024, Super Eagles B coach Eric Chelle has challenged his team to tackle their next match against Congo with all their might and resolve.
Every tournament match carries a lot of weight, and Chelle, who has been honing the team in training, reminded the players that the only things that will give them the advantage are discipline, quickness in front of the goal, and tight defence.
Due to their elimination from the tournament, the Super Eagles B’s match against Congo will only be for dignity after losses to Senegal (1-0) and Sudan (4-0).
Ahead of the match against Congo, Chelle disclosed that his starting lineup for the last group game might be different during his pre-game press conference.
He said, “For this game, there will be changes because we lost two games; we need to change something. The reality is that we lost two games due to lots of mistakes.
“It’s difficult for us mentally because the tournament is done for us, so this is why we need to return to Nigeria with something.
“Tomorrow’s game is one where we can try to forget our mistakes. I’m waiting to see how they will start and finish this game because as a professional player, you need to stay focused, you need to be in a great state of mind, and the players need to show their qualities.”
