The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has released the names of five candidates contesting the forthcoming bye-election in Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Oyo State.

The names were contained in a statement issued by the electoral body and obtained by DAILY POST on Monday.

The bye-election is scheduled to hold on Saturday, August 16, following the death of the immediate past occupant of the seat, Hon. Musliudeen Olaide Akinremi.

Akinremi, who was serving a second term under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, died in July last year.

INEC had earlier indicated that nineteen political parties signalled interest in contesting the election.

However, the commission has now released the final list featuring five candidates representing their respective political parties.

The candidates include Dexter Femi Akin-Alamu of the African Democratic Congress, Adewale Haastrup Olatunji of the All Progressives Congress, and Olabisi Olajumoke Odususi of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.

Also on the list are Fola Sunday Oyekunle of the Peoples Democratic Party and Hammed Badmus of the Zenith Labour Party.
