By-election: APC’s victory proof of Gov Sani’s inclusive governance in Kaduna – Commissioner

Kaduna State Commissioner of Information, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki has declared that the victory of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency by-election is a proof of Governor Uba Sani’s “inclusive governance and people-centered policies”.

Maiyaki was responding to questions from newsmen after the announcement of election results of the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency as well as Zaria Kewaye and Basawa State Assembly constituencies.

According to him, “the result reflects the trust communities in Kaduna now repose in the leadership of Gov Uba Sani and the ruling party, the triumph was both historic and symbolic, representing the breaking of a long-standing jinx in a constituency that had consistently resisted APC’s advances.”

With this development, the commissioner explained that the party has consolidated its hold on Kaduna State, stretching its dominance into territories once seen as opposition fortresses.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, said the APC polled 34,580 votes while the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, once regarded as the strongest force in Chikun and Kajuru, got 11,491 votes. The African Democratic Congress, ADC, secured 3,477 votes, and the Social Democratic Party, SDP, trailed with just 142 votes.

Maiyaki added, “The landslide victories are due to Governor Uba Sani’s grassroots-focused leadership, which has delivered tangible results through road infrastructure, healthcare renewal, education reforms, and security interventions — policies that resonated strongly with voters and paved the way for the sweeping victory.”

The commissioner explained that the people of Chikun and Kajuru as well as Zaria Kewaye and Basawa State Assembly constituencies have spoken loud and clear, saying that they want progressive leadership, not recycled promises.

With 34,580 votes in Chikun and Kajuru standing far ahead of the opposition’s combined tally, Maiyaki believed that the APC has not only broken new ground but also cemented its status as the dominant political force in Kaduna State, adding that the momentum from the landmark victory positions the party on a solid pedestal ahead of 2027.
