A 32-year-old businessman, Emmanuel Evovo, has been arraigned before the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan over allegations of stealing N7 million from his business associate.

Evovo, whose residential address was not disclosed, is facing a charge of theft brought against him by the police.

According to the Prosecutor, Inspector Adeshina Folaranmi, the alleged offence occurred between December 2023 and sometime in 2024 at the Bodija area of Ibadan.

Folaranmi told the court that the defendant unlawfully took a total of N7,138,000, said to belong to his business partner, Mr Francis Chibuikem. The prosecutor noted that the alleged act contravenes Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code of Oyo State, 2000.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty.

Presiding Magistrate, Mrs Oluwabusayo Osho, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N3 million, with two sureties in the same amount.

The case has been adjourned to September 15 for hearing.
