The arraignment of three Ghanaian nationals and an Abuja based lawyer, Abu Arome was on Wednesday stalled at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory due to the Tuesday’s public holiday declared by the federal government in honour of late former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The three Ghanaians billed for arraignment on Wednesday, alongside the Nigerian lawyer are Sam Jonah, a Knight of British Empire (KBE); Kojo Ansah; Victor Quainoo, and a company, Mobus Property Nigeria Ltd, to October 7.

However, at Wednesday’s proceeding, the Court Registrar told litigants that the cases scheduled for Tuesday July 15, but could not go on due to the public holidays in honour of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, would be attended to only.

The Registrar announced that all cases slated for Wednesday would be shifted till other dates after the yearly vacation of the Court.

Consequently, the arraignment of the Ghanaians and the lawyer was fixed for October 7 before Modupe-Osho Adebiyi.

The accused persons are being prosecuted on a 26-count charge filed against them by the Nigeria Police over their alleged involvement in the forgery of company documents in a bid to illegally takeover Houses for Africa Nigeria Ltd, Jonahcapital Nigeria Ltd, as well as assume ownership control of River Park Estate Abuja.

The charge, signed by Isa Garba, prosecuting counsel, legal/prosecution section, Force headquarters, Abuja, as well as Maureen Okonkwo, Registrar, High Court of the FCT, Abuja; marked CR/402/2025, was dated June 25th, but filed on June 26th 2025.

Specifically, the complainant, IGP, alleged that the accused persons had illegally increased the company’s share capital and allocated 99 million shares to themselves using falsified documents and forged signatures, also falsely presenting themselves as Nigerian ‘citizens to the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, to facilitate their alleged fraudulent activities.
