Budget Minister, Bagudu Bags CMAN Fellowship Award

The Capital Market Academics of Nigeria (CMAN) on Friday conferred the highest membership status of the Association- Fellow of the Capital Market Academics (FCMA) on the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Abubakar Bagudu.
The President of CMAN, Prof Uche Uwaleke, led other Exco members of the Association to confer the award on the Minister in a ceremony witnessed by directors and top officials of the Ministry.
Uwaleke told the Bagudu that CMAN started in 2020 as an Association of Professors and Senior Academics in Nigerian Universities with interest in financial markets’ research drawn from Finance, Economics, Banking, Accounting, Business Admin and Law departments.
According to him, members are spread in universities across Nigeria coordinated by zonal heads.
Uwaleke congratulated Bagudu for receiving the award, which is the highest honour that the Association can bestow on an individual
He said, “The Capital Market Academics of Nigeria (CMAN) started in 2020 as an Association of Professors and Senior Academics in Nigerian Universities with interest in financial markets’ research drawn from Finance, Economics, Banking, Accounting, Business Admin and Law departments.
“Members are spread in Universities across Nigeria coordinated by Zonal heads. Our principal activities include Seminars and Conferences.
“Today, the Association welcomes captains of industry in order to strengthen the bond between the Academia and Industry which positions her to be the nation’s foremost Think Tank in relation to finance and economy.
“On behalf of all Capital Market Academics in Nigeria, I congratulate you on this award and look forward to your inaugural lecture which every Fellow of our Society is expected to deliver.”
The CMAN President pledged the association’s support to the reforms of the present administration and assured of its willingness to assist the minister in delivering on his mandate of ensuring effective national budget and economic planning.
The Minister assured the Association of his support after taking the Oath of Fellowship administered by Barrister George Ibekwe, the CMAN National Secretary.
He promised to involve CMAN in the key activities of his ministry going forward.
Other Capital Market Academics who accompanied the President on the visit are Prof Seth Akutson (1st VP), Dr Mohammed Hussaini (2nd VP), Prof Taibat Atoyebi (Assistant National Secretary & Director UniAbuja Business School), and Prof Dele Olaolu (Deputy Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences, Baze University).
Some distinguished Nigerians who have been conferred the Fellowship of the Association include the Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima; and the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Mr Wale Edun.
