The prime suspect in the murder of two students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, AAUA, Ondo State, is dead.

The suspect, Femi Oladele popularly known as ‘Tallex’ who is the landlord of the deceased students – Andrew Eloho Okah, 25, and John Friday Abba, 19 – reportedly died on Friday following a strange and brief illness while in detention.

Tallex was arrested along with two other suspects for kidnapping, robbery, rape and murder of the 200-level undergraduates of the Department of History and International Studies (Faculty of Arts) and the Department of Economics (Faculty of Agriculture) of the institution.

After the decomposing remains of one the victims were discovered in a shallow grave in a forest that borders Ondo and Ekiti states, Tallex was arrested and he subsequently confessed that he committed the crime due to Okah’s disrespectful attitude towards him.

According to sources, after making the confessional statement admitting to the murder of the students, Tallex developed a strange illness which led to his death after being rushed to the hospital.

One of the sources said, “He (Tallex) is dead. We were told that he died after falling sick. But what we are still not sure is the actual time and date of his death. We have been hearing that the died about a week ago.

“But the police is saying that he died yesterday (Friday). It is confusing. Also, some police officers hinted us that he died in the cell and we are hearing another narrative that Tallex died in a hospital. We are actually don’t know what is happening.”

While also confirming the sudden death of the prime suspect, the Police spokesperson in the state, Olayinka Ayanlade, stated that he was rushed to the hospital where he gave up the ghost on Friday.

According to the police image maker, Tallex has been in and out of the hospital since his arrest in a hotel after masterminding the killing of the students, who were both his tenants.

“Oladele (Tallex) had been in and out of the hospital under close medical supervision and was receiving adequate care before he died in the early hours of yesterday (Friday)

“As of now, the decomposing remains of Okah have been recovered, while efforts are ongoing to locate Abba’s body. We are asking members of the public to disregard any distorted narratives seeking to divert attention from the facts and the Command can assured that justice will be fully pursued and all those involved will be made to face the full weight of the law.”
