BREAKING: Nigeria Defeat Morocco To Win 10th WAFCON Trophy

The Super Falcons earned a hard-fought 3-2 win over Morocco to win the 2024 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) trophy at the Stade Olympique in Rabat on Saturday.
Chebbak opened the scoring for the hosts with a stunning effort from the edge of the box in the 12th minute.
The Super Falcons struggled to stamp their authority on the game with misplaced passes as the Moroccans dominated the clash in the opening moments.
Twelve minutes later, Sanaâ Mssoudy added the second goal for Morocco after beating Michelle Alozie in the box before producing a low finish pass to Chiamaka Nnadozie to make it 2-0.
The Atlas Lionesses held on to the lead going into the second half.
The Super Falcons came out of the second half with intent, and purpose with much improved performance.
Madugu made a double change in the 59th minute, replacing Chinwendu Ihezuo, and Halimatu Ayinde with Babajide Rinsola, and Jennifer Echegini.
Five minutes later, Esther Okonkwo reduced the deficit for the Super from the penalty spot.
Folashade Ijamilusi restored parity for Nigeria with a close range finish from Esther Okonkwo to make it 2-2 in the 71st minute.
Substitute Jennifer Echegini scored the winning goal for Nigeria in the 88th minute with a clinical finish from another Esther Okonkwo’s assist to seal a 3-2 win for Nigeria, and also the trophy.
The Super Falcons have now won the competition 10 times, further establishing their dominance in women’s football.
