BREAKING: Inflation Declines Fifth Consecutive Time To 21.88%—NBS

On Friday, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said that the July 2025 inflation rate maintained a downward trend by declining to 21.88 per cent.
According to the recently released Consumer Price Index report, the July rate is the fifth consecutive decrease in 2025.

The July rate declined marginally by 0.34 per cent compared to the June 2025 rate of 22.22 per cent.

The report showed that the three major contributors to the headline inflation were food and non-alcoholic beverages: 8.75 per cent; restaurants & accommodation services: 2.83 per cent, and transport: 2.33 per cent.

The NBS noted that the least contributors were recreation, sport, and culture: 0.07 per cent, alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and narcotics: 0.08 per cent, and insurance and financial services: 0.10 per cent.

According to the NBS, food inflation rate in July 2025 was 22.74 per cent on a year-on-year basis.

On a month-on-month basis, the food inflation rate in July 2025 was 3.12 per cent, which fell by 0.14 per cent compared to June 2025 at 3.25 per cent.
