Nigeria, Brazil Set to Sign Over 30 Landmark MoUs

Brazil’s Vice President, Geraldo Alckmin, arrived in Nigeria on Tuesday alongside his wife, Maria Alckmin, to commence the Second Session of the Nigeria-Brazil Strategic Dialogue Mechanism (SDM), which is expected to unlock vast bilateral trade opportunities.

According to Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Communications (Office of the Vice President), the three-day state visit will culminate in the signing of over 30 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), covering key sectors including agriculture, defence, energy, and cultural exchange.

Alckmin was received at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, by Senator Ibrahim Hadejia, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President; Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment; Mukhtar Maiha, Minister of Livestock Development; and Senator Abubakar Kyari, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security.

Describing the event, Hadejia said: “This dialogue mechanism represents our commitment to leveraging South-South partnerships that deliver tangible benefits to our citizens.”

“Brazil’s expertise in agribusiness, energy transition, and industrial development aligns perfectly with Nigeria’s transformation priorities and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
