Benue: Court remands OrDubuDeli over alleged attack on SGF’s residence in Makurdi

A Magistrate Court in Makurdi has ordered the remand of Mr. Haakyav Tombu Peter, popularly known as OrDubuDeli, at the Makurdi Correctional Facility on charges bordering on terrorism and robbery.

Peter had earlier petitioned the Benue State Commissioner of Police, alleging that he was attacked at Judges Quarters, Makurdi, on Sunday, during which his mobile phone was stolen.

However, matters turned when, at the state police headquarters, a counter-petition was presented, accusing him of leading an assault on the residence of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) in Makurdi, alongside yet-to-be-identified accomplices.

Following his arrest, the suspect was arraigned before the court, which declined to grant him bail on account of the capital nature of the allegations and subsequently ordered his remand in custody.

Meanwhile, his lawyers have filed a bail application scheduled for hearing tomorrow.

The case has attracted widespread public interest, with many awaiting the court’s decision on the bail request.
