Armed herdsmen, on Tuesday, launched a fresh attack on Yelewata community in Nyiev Council Ward, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, killing a farmer.

The victim, identified as Hemen Ayua Jonyi, was said to have been brutally hacked to death with a machete while on his way to his yam farm, located less than a mile from the village square.

Tuesday’s attack marks yet another wave of violence in Yelewata.

Just two weeks earlier, three residents were killed and three others wounded in a similar raid, while less than three months ago, more than 200 villagers were massacred by suspected herdsmen in the same community.
