‎Bendel Insurance and Warri Wolves continued their impressive performances in the ongoing Bayelsa Pre-season Football Tournament after matchday two.
‎
‎Warri Wolves in the first match of the day spanked Prosperity Cup champions, Eternal Grace Ministry, EGM FC by three goals to nil in an encounter decided at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa.
‎
‎Goals from Ademola Adebambo in the 35th minute and a brace from Ezekiel Oroh gave Warri Wolves a comfortable victory over wasteful EGM FC to earn six points in group “A” having defeated Bayelsa United U-20 team on Monday.
‎
‎Bendel Insurance, in the second match, pummeled newly-promoted Kun Khalifat four nil to confirm their supremacy in group B. Alex Oweilayefa put Insurance ahead on 28 minute, Promise Itoro doubled the lead for the Benin Arsenals on 34 minute while Kayode Oke on 40 minute compounded Kun Khalifat’s woes to make it three nil. Isaac Omigie on 49 minute added another to complete the annihilation of the Owerri-based side.
‎
‎The tournament will observe a day of rest on Wednesday, 13th August, 2025 as host, Bayelsa United battles Kun Khalifat of Owerri on Thursday in group B at the Samson Siasia Stadium at 1.00pm.
‎
‎Bendel Insurance head coach, ‎Greg Ikhenoba said his side was impressive in their performance but noted that there are still areas for improvement in the team.
‎
He said: ‎”Yes, it is a pre-season tournament where you have to see how your team plays cohesively. The goals are good but I am not moved by that, my interest is how we play together and understand each other before the league commences.
‎
‎”We came here with many players and we will continue to work hard. Opportunities will certainly be given to those that have not played in the next match and that is the important thing in this kind of platform”, he maintained.
‎
‎Despite the heavy defeat, Kun Khalifat head coach, Obinna Uzoho believes that his team would improve before the league commences, attributing the loss to elementary errors that would be corrected in subsequent games.
‎
‎Earlier, Warri Wolves Technical Adviser, Napoleon Alumua noted that the players are gradually blending into his philosophy, describing EGM FC as a good team.
