BBNaijaS10: Power Outage Halts Broadcast

The Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) Season 10 reality show experienced a temporary disruption earlier today following a power outage that halted its live transmission for a few hours — the first time in the show’s history that such a blackout has occurred.
Organisers confirmed the interruption in a public notice, assuring viewers that the housemates were “safe and sound” while technical teams worked to restore service.
“We’re currently experiencing a temporary break in Big Brother Naija transmission due to a power issue. Rest assured, the housemates are safe and sound. Our technical team is working swiftly to restore power and normal service. Thank you for your patience. Grab a snack, stretch your legs. We’ll be back serving premium entertainment shortly,” the statement read.
The outage, which lasted only a few hours, sparked a wave of reactions online, with many viewers blending humour, concern, and lighthearted banter under the #BBNaija hashtag.
“We are reporting a missing case. Name: Precious Dede, last seen with traditional attire four hours ago.”
“Na wao! Sha keep the housemates safe, especially Dede and Faith.”
“Hope heat no dey do my madam ooo.”
“Biggie, you did bare minimum for we the viewers ni.”
One comment also read, “NEPA don show Biggie pepper. How can BBNaija go off air because of light? Nigeria my country.”
Another viewer said, “Power outage in Biggie’s house? Even Big Brother no fit escape NEPA wahala.”
For many fans, the incident was a shocking first, with some joking that not even Big Brother could escape Nigeria’s notorious power challenges.
Others expressed relief that the housemates were safe, while some urged the production team to step up their game and avoid a repeat of the disruption.
Later in the evening, transmission was restored, though fans quickly noticed that production was still battling minor technical hitches, particularly with sound, as the housemates performed their wager task.
The disruption came at a time when the house is tense with drama, especially under Head of House Faith’s strict rules and his previous clash with Imisi over kerosene usage in the kitchen.
While MultiChoice Nigeria and the organisers have yet to give further details on the cause of the outage, they reiterated that the technical team is working to stabilise the production fully and ensure a smooth broadcast.
Despite the setback, the show’s schedule remains intact, with fans still tuned in as the wager task performance continues.
