The Bayelsa State Government has announced that it would construct a new international stadium in addition to an iconic 9-storey secretariat complex.
Governor Douye Diri who stated this also said the government has concluded arrangements for the construction of Ekeremor-Agge road, as part of activities to mark the 5th anniversary of his administration.
While thanking the people for their continuous support to his government, the governor assured them of more impactful projects including the new power plant.
“For us, it is about the legacies we will leave behind when our tenure comes to an end, and that is why we are not interested in abandoning any project met on ground.
“We have taken them on, some of them completed and some, ongoing, and in the midst of that, we have also introduced new legacy projects that will impact the standard of living of our people.
“We have been talking about the power situation in our state, and I believe that the drive for investors can never happen if we don’t have the solution for power.
“This government has gone into agreement with the private sector, and as we speak, we have even paid the first tranche on the supply of the gas turbine machines to Bayelsa State.
“We believe that is another legacy we will leave behind in this state”, Governor Diri stated.
The governor did not disclose the estimated cost of the new stadium and the 9-storey secretariat complex.
